Name: Callum Davidson
Age: 32
Current Club: Preston North End
Language: English
Nationality: Scottish
Position: DL/WBL
Cost to buy: £400k?
Type of team he’d come to: Most Championship sides upwards, including some League 1 teams.
Wages: £3,000 P/w
Would he require a WP: No
Current Ability: 3 Stars
Potential Ability: 3 Stars
Strengths: Stamina (16), Concentration (16), Bravery (17), Teamwork (16)
Weaknesses: Corners (8.), Flair (7), Dribbling (9), Finishing (6), Acceleration (9)

Individual Instructions

Callum is not the most suited to going forward as his dribbling (9) and his crossing (11) attributes let him down slightly. However, for a defender he has a good long shots attribute of 14. Because of this, I would limit his running with the ball and the amount of crosses he puts in. I wouldn’t however stop him from shooting when he gets a chance as hi shooting stat is above average.

I would play Davidson at left back as his defensive stats are overall very strong. His marking (15) and tackling (13) make him a good choice at left back for the Championship. He might not be the best player to support your team going forwards, but on the whole he is a very strong player who has a great set of attributes in all areas.

Best and worst field of skill?

Callum Davidson is a very experienced player with a number of Scotland caps and plenty of league appearances to his name. This is reflected in his mental attributes which appear to be his strongest. He is a player with great bravery and aggression which will prevent him from pulling out of tackles and increasing the team’s strength in defence. He also possesses great concentration levels, which is key to limiting the amount of mistakes your defence makes. Callum would also be a good choice of captain at this level due to his experience in the game and his relatively high influence attribute of 15.

In contrast, his worst field is his physical attributes. This is partly down to his age as all players decrease in the physical department once age starts to get on top of them. However, these are very strong for older Championship players. He only has one attribute (acceleration) below 10 which means that he is in good shape and will not get caught out too much. His positioning is also very good so his pace will not need to be relied upon to get him out of trouble too much.

Training

I would keep his training down to a medium level to prevent him from being over worked and therefore getting injuries. I would keep him on a training schedule which mainly focuses on his defensive attributes as this is the position he plays. His weaknesses are mainly his physical attributes which is probably down to his age more than anything, therefore these would struggle to be improved. I would definitely include some attacking in his training schedule as he does have the ability to do well going forward when called upon.

Overall

To sum up, Davidson is a quality player for the Championship. His wage demands are relatively low which means he is affordable for the majority of clubs in the Championship and he will rarely let you down.
