Tomislav's attributes at the beginning of the game.
Strengths
Teamwork (19), Work Rate (19), Stamina (19), Strength (18), Marking (17), Tackling (16) and Long Shots (16)
Tomislav is a very hard working player who gives everything for the team and when this is combined with his stamina means he will keep up for the whole 90 minutes without fading away and letting the team down. Due to his strength, marking and tackling, Dujmovic makes an ideal holding midfield player as he will not be muscled off the ball easily and can put himself about the midfield breaking up the opposition’s attacks. Also his positioning (16) will make sure he holds his place correctly in the centre of the park playing as an anchor whilst the rest of your players attack. Despite this his long shots also means he can be quite formidable going forward and is good to have lurking outside the opposition box when you have a corner waiting for the ball to be cleared to him. His long throws (16) are also quite impressive however you may rather him remain occupying the centre of midfield.
Weaknesses
Passing (12), Flair (9), Influence (9), Agression (7), Jumping (10) and Creativity (10)
Although not so much a weakness, Tomislav’s passing is by no means the best and so I felt I had to mention it. This is something else that makes him more suited to a holding role as does his flair and creativity since these make him a sort of Ronseal player. He does exactly what he says on the tin, this being battling in the heart of your midfield and despite his low agression from my experience this is what he does. A weakness which is a bit of a dissapointment is his influence as if this were higher he would make a brilliant captain. Also his jumping and heading are not the best although he is quite a tall player which should help to make up for this somewhat.
Individual Instructions
Whilst Dujmovic can play both DM and MC I feel it is the DM or dMC roles which suit him better. Since his passing is not the highest I would set him to fairly short passing so that he distributes the ball to players nearby to him meaning he should make less stray passes. Also since he is very good at tackling I would set him to hard tackling so that he really ploughs into the opposition and combine this with quite a high setting on the closing down bar so that he doesn’t give the opposition a break. Also since he is not a particularly quick player and not so great a dribbler I would discourage him from making forward runs and running with the ball as this could leave your defence unprotected if they counter attack whilst he is still up the pitch. Due to his long shots I would encourage him to have a lot of cracks at goal from range and also set him to just outside the box at corners so he can hover, waiting to fire back in any poor clearances.
Training
The defensive side of Tomislav’s game is very important to him so due to this I have him set quite high for defending. Also his ball control is of an adequate level but is something he could do to work on so I also have him doing quite a lot of ball control. Since he is not the best going forward I have very low on shooting and attacking meanwhile I have him a bit higher for set pieces so that he knows the right positions to get himself into. Similarly I have him doing quite a lot of tactics training since this is useful for all players to be good at. As strength is such a major part of Dujmovic’s game I have him set high for this to maintain his impressive strength and medium aerobic to keep him fit. Since he is very unlikely to ever be deployed between the sticks I have him set to none for goalkeeper training.
Overall and In The Future
Tomislav will not get the plaudits each week but he will deliver, consistent, dependable performances making him a player you can rely on. Due to his age he is unlikely to improve much apart from his mental attributes but I don’t really think this is needed since he is a fairly well rounded player. Dujmovic is just entering the peak of his playing career and his best performances are yet to come so he would be a great player for you for approximately the next five seasons which for the fee you need to prise him from Amkar seems like a bargain to me.
