Oh yes, SI have given us the announcement about the FM series a lot of us wanted.

Zab and Nin asked Miles this question LAST YEAR on the podcast and we got a very ambiguous answer but now its here and I personally cannot wait!

This is the announcement made on the FM website!

Over the last few months, the most asked question of us on Twitter and Facebook has been “when is Football Manager coming to iPhone/iPod?”, and we’ve confidently pointed out that it wasn’t coming.

When people have asked “when is Football Manager Handheld coming to iPhone/iPod” we’ve been very quiet.

But now we are beyond excited to be able to announce today that FMH2010 is coming to iPhone and iPod touch. And even more excited to be able to announce that what has been our best kept secret ever, it’s coming out in the next 48 hours!

We expect it will be live in the iTunes Store within the next 48 hours!

What do the pundits say? Some very lucky few journalists who received limited edition Football Manager Handheld iPod touches (engraved by the people who engrave the FA Cup!) with the game pre-installed on it, expect the game to be a big winner:

One area of FMV that has turned out some great reads lately is the Current Game area and so we are starting this award: Current Game of the Week! Apologies for the trophy graphic but it’s the best I could do on short notice

“Derby Paulista”

One of biggest derbies in the world can be found in the heart of Sao Paolo city as Corinthians take on Palmeiras. Both teams ply their trade in the Sao Paolo State Championship as well as the Brazilian First Division and almost annually compete in the Copa Libertadores as well. Its a massive rivalry in a big footballing country, this rivalry is much more about football.

Palmeiras boast two of Football Manager’s biggest legends in Marquinhos and Keirrison but also some real life legends in Brazilian icons Marcos and Edmilson. Corinthians on the other hand is home to Brazilian legend Ronaldo and goalkeeping phenomenon Felipe adding to FM legend Detinho in their side. Both teams are fairly even on the pitch and fairly even in terms of history as well although Corinthians in real life have earned one more official piece of silverware than their counterparts Palmeiras.

One Thing Stands In Your Way

FM-View’s Staff! – You, as the members will be required to go as Palmeiras. Yous will carry out the challenge as normal as Palmeiras earning as much managerscore points as you can. The twist? FMV staff will be carrying out the exact same challenge but as your fierce rivals Corinthians. Your objective is to simply gain as much managerscore points as you can but if the staff can gain more yous will not be given any managerscore points, if the members get more than the staff then yous will earn the right to any managerscore points you have earned. Simples.

Managerscore Points will be awarded for the following;

Sao Paolo State Championship Winner: 20 points
1st Place In Brazilian First Division: 40 points
2nd Place In Brazilian First Division: 25 points
3rd Place In Brazilian First Division 15 points
4th Place In Brazilian First Division: 5 points
Copa Libertadores Winner: 60 points
Copa Libertadores Runner-Up: 30 points
Win Brazilian Cup: 15 points

Bonus Points

Beat the opposing rival every time throughout the season: 15 points
Have a player score over 40 goals in a season: 15 points
Sell a product of your youth system for over £10m: 10 points
Unbeaten in First Division: 15 points

-You must have version 9.3
-No updates, original 9.3 only (if you have an update post in the thread and we may allow it pending investigation)
-This challenge will remain open for the foreseeable future, there is no deadline.

To conclude: You as the members, will go Palmeiras. Yous will gain as much managerscore points as usual but will only receive these managerscore points shall yous beat the staff (Corinthians). If there is a lot more members than staff in this challenge then an average shall be agreed.

Azzuri;

Napoli are widely regarded as one of the most promising teams in Serie A. Despite being an established club, spending almost all of their existance in Italy’s top flight the club now find itself in a promising position with a young, talented and exciting squad who with some work could be the team in the future that brings home Napoli’s 3rd title in its history.

Your aim is to deliver as much glory to Naples as possible and with a chairman who loves the club, a team full of young potential and Europe to look forward to straight away first season you have your hands full from the off.

Markey Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi lead the long list of names who will be wanted by major clubs around the world and it leaves you with a dilemma, do you keep ahold of your top players, possibly against their wishes, or let them leave and blood your own title winning team.

Either way this won’t be an easy ride with the likes of Inter, AC and Juventus to contend with although on the other hand it won’t be the most difficult challenge you’ve ever encountered with pretty low expectations for the quality of team.

Well for 99% of FMV, it needs no introduction. But for any of you new faces on the site I will explain. The R-League is a league set in a fictional country of Romacia. Romacia is the most advanced country in the world and is building a league to rival the rest of the world by buying up all the best players in the world. Effectively if you have any knowledge of cricket, a little bit like the IPL. Once you sign up your team then a draft occurs which allows you to pick your players, however, the order of the draw is completely random meaning that you may have to pick after everyone else picks or you could be first meaning that the pressure is straight on your shoulders to do well. After the draft has occurred then you send in a tactic or tactic set along with specific instructions such as Preferred First 11 and any other information I may require. Then we play out the season, or rather I play it out on your behalf and report back the results, generally one round of fixtures at a time giving you time to change things if you’ve lost or players have been injured etc. Along with this there are many other elements to keep up to date with such as the R-League Managers League which logs points gained across a number of variables, giving a reflection of how well you’re doing. Of course all that matters is the league but the manager scoreboard is also useful to log overall performances over many years and across many cups. There is more intricate details to know about the R-League such as transfer rules, draft rules etc but this will be made available at a later date. You think you’re the best manager on the boards well now is your chance to prove it.

Where is Romacia?

In previous incarnations it has been in Asia, which was good because it gave people a chance to be exposed to other teams in continental competitions, but realistically did not maximise the potential to prove the power of the league. This time Romacia is in Europe allowing the best teams in the league qualification to the Europa League and the Champions League. This should add an increased element of competition for the very best teams. Romacia geographically is an island just of the Dalmatian coast with Italy on one side and Croatia on the other.

What is the history of Romacia?

Romacia was formerly settled upon by Greek colonists at around 452BC. It formerly conquered in 89BC by the Roman Empire and stayed as part of the later Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire) until the fall of Constantinople. At which point, it passed to become a Venetian colony. In 1612 Spain conquered the island and retained it until 1845 when it passed into British hands. It remained in British hands until the end of the First World War at which point independence was declared. During World War II, Romacia was conquered by the Italian forces, but was liberated by an American-British coalition and its independence was given back, but bombing runs had gutted the island. A large amount of investment was given by the American’s to rebuild Romacia, which was put to good use. By 1996, Romacia had the highest GDP per capita in the world, primarily through the dominance of financial services which remains to this day unchallenged.

The Map is provided to add some realism to the R-League in general. In the past people have just called their teams whatever they want and placed them wherever they want but this time, I am providing a map so that people no what the districts are in the city and can choose to incorporate this into the name of the club they make. It is strictly you’re choice however and all names with be accepted within reason. I am just addressing that most clubs are named from where they come from. i.e. AC Milan, Manchester United, etc etc.
